Sebree's Nic Quintana created our conceptual design for Canstruction. We placed our order for cans weeks in advance...is this really going to become a starship?Yes, we did design drawings! The internal structure was a bit of a challenge to support all that weight!Nic Quintana and Ken Sebree begin our day creating the planet our starship would sit upon.Creating the body of the ship was the most difficult part. Those tomoto juice cans were heavy! We attached them with HD fishing line. For the ends of the engine nacellles, we used vegetable strainers. The radar on the front was a vegatable steamer. Its starting to look like a real starship in this photo! Ken and Nic put on the finishing touches to our Canstruction entry.Side view of the finished USS NC-1701-C. The Can-ship Enterprise!Front view. Canstruction entries were on display at the Indiana State Fair for 17 days. Thousands of people came past the competing entries.Canstruction was one of the primary events going on at the Indiana State Fair because the fair was sponsored by Red Gold Tomotoes. We can't wait for next year!

Each year in Indianapolis, architects compete against each other in a Canstruction competition.  For 2009, Canstruction was held at the Indiana State Fair in the Ball State Ag/Hort Building.  Sebree decided that our entry would "Boldly go where no CAN had gone Before!"  We created a starship out of food cans based upon the Enterprise of Star Trek fame.  The photos show the process....
One Can Make a Difference.
